Time Management in your coaching business is essential to your productivity and to achieve your goals effectively. As a new coach, finding strategies to stay on track will help. Here are a few we have discovered:
Clear Goals
Coaches often struggle with time management because they lack clear goals. If you don’t know where you are going, how will you get there? Knowing what you want for your coaching business and having concrete goals will help you cut out busy work that takes you nowhere. Goals give you direction and focus. Write them down and review them frequently.

Prioritize
Once you have goals, it is time to prioritize. Decide what is urgent versus what is important. Make a To-Do list, then order them according to priority. Group similar tasks together and work on them at the same time to prevent switching, which can reduce your efficiency. Prioritizing your list will also help you say “NO!” to activities that move you away from your goals. The Eisenhower Matrix is a tool that might help you organize your tasks effectively.
Delegate
When you have prioritized your list of To-Do’s, it’s time to get rid of some of it! Delegate the tasks that others can handle – to a Virtual Assistant, a professional, or even your favorite teenager! Trying to do it all can prevent you from meeting your goals and building a thriving coaching practice. Stay in your lane!
Time Block
Create a schedule to focus on tasks, meetings and deadlines. Using time blocks to focus on specific projects can be effective in getting through the work. Work in short intervals – 15 to 30 minutes – taking a short break to prevent overwhelm. During these blocks of time, be certain to limit distractions by turning off notifications, silencing your phone and eliminating anything during that block but the task at hand. Set boundaries for these work hours so that those around you understand your commitment to your coaching business.

Time blocks are an effective way to manage your time.
Review and Flex
For best results in time management, regular review of your processes is important. At least quarterly, take a look at how you are managing your time and tasks and see what needs to change. What is working, and what is not? Be flexible in adapting your approach as your priorities shift through feedback or unforeseen events popping up. Reviewing your processes and re-arranging as needed will allow you to adjust your strategies to be more effective through change.
By creating a time management process for your coaching practice, you will be more efficient at getting things done, leaving you more time for doing what you do best – COACHING!
