Clear messaging is so important to launching and growing your coaching practice. Your messaging must allow your ideal client to see and understand that you bring solutions to their problems. It’s the most important part of building your brand identity.
Confusion
Often, coaches will build their messaging around their credentials. They let people know all about their training and certifications. Their profiles are full of coaching jargon that is foreign to most. In the About section on their website, they make it all about themselves. Yawn!
Here’s the truth: your clients don’t care about any of that until they know that you care about them.

If you don’t have clear messaging, your ideal client will be confused.
Flip the Script
Unfortunately, this lack of clear messaging causes confusion in your ideal client’s mind. A confused mind does nothing. In other words, they won’t buy.
Your messaging must be all about your potential client — not about you. Your messaging must demonstrate that you understand their challenges, and even more importantly, that you know what will happen if they DON’T take action.
So, flip the script and talk about THEM. This clear messaging directed at them will keep their focus on their problem.
Give Hope
Your messaging must include hope. After all, why should they work with you?
You offer hope to them in the solutions you provide in your coaching services. Paint a beautiful picture for them of what life will be after working with you. Talk directly about how your coaching package will bring an end to their challenges and what’s to come. This is what they want and need to hear.
Call to Action
Your messaging must always include what they need to do next. Do you want them to schedule an appointment? Download a white paper? Opt into a digital training? Clear messaging tells them exactly what to do. It needs to include urgency, too, like “Opt In NOW!”
If someone fails to act after reading, then it can only be because of one or two things: They are not your ideal client, or your messaging failed to move them.

A confused mind will not buy!
Use it Everywhere
Once you have developed your messaging, you will be able to use it anywhere and everywhere your ideal client may be engaging. You can create ad copy for your marketing and package descriptions. Your website descriptions and your elevator pitch will all be aligned.
Creating clear messaging is best done through a specific process. We’ve created one for you beginning in Chapter 24 of The Coach Business Guide, The Path to Launch and Grow Your Coaching Practice.
